EM PGY1

Welcome to Ultrasound, PGY1s!  Over the course of this block, we hope to not just introduce you to the basics of ultrasound in Emergency Medicine, but give you tools that you will find useful in the day-to-day care of your patients.

The following material is meant as a guide for minimum competency as a PGY1 in ultrasound.  There is additional material that will be provided that is not mandatory but recommended reading as you dive deeper into your practice.  By the completion of this block, you will be expected to be able to adjust depth and gain, use M mode, adjust frequency to optimize image quality and identify free fluid in the abdomen,  poor cardiac contractility, estimated fluid volume status, confirmed intrauterine pregnancy.
